Aniplex has announced that Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Walpurgisnacht Rising, the long-awaited direct sequel to the 2013 blockbuster Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: [New Story] Rebellion, is slated for a February 2026 theatrical release in Japan. The 2013 film was a social phenomenon, and the announcement of a release window for its successor has been accompanied by a host of new information, including a stunning new trailer and a second key visual.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Walpurgisnacht Rising is a completely new animated feature film that picks up where [New Story] Rebellion left off. Ahead of the new film’s premiere, a special TV broadcast of the recap movies has been confirmed. A re-edited version of the 2012 films, [Part 1] Beginnings and [Part 2] Eternal, will air as “Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Beginnings/Eternal” TV Edition.
The series is scheduled to air starting in October 2025 in the popular “Nichi-5” slot (Sundays at 5:00 PM JST) on the MBS/TBS network, reaching 28 stations nationwide. This presents a perfect opportunity for newcomers to experience the series and for longtime fans to refresh their memory before the new installment.
