Slayers: New Lina & Gourry Illustration Unveiled for KADOKAWA’s “KADOMIX” Project Kick-off


KADOKAWA Corporation announced on September 28, 2025, the launch of “KADOMIX,” a new collaboration project pairing its iconic properties with popular illustrators. For its inaugural release, the timeless fantasy classic “Slayers” is featured in a special collaboration with the celebrated illustrator Rei, who boasts over 500,000 followers on X.

Announcing the New Project “KADOMIX”

“KADOMIX” is a noteworthy collaboration initiative that aims to “mix” the talent of up-and-coming illustrators with the numerous masterpieces from KADOKAWA’s extensive library. The project’s objective is to present new possibilities and fresh perspectives on beloved works to fans by fusing the original charm of the properties with the unique style of each illustrator.

The newly unveiled collaboration illustration is scheduled to be developed into merchandise, which will be available for purchase on KADOKAWA’s official e-commerce site, KDStore, and other retail outlets.

 

First Installment Features “Slayers” × Popular Illustrator Rei

The project’s first installment honors “Slayers,” a cornerstone of the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko label. The new artwork, drawn by the immensely popular illustrator Rei, features the series’ protagonists, Lina Inverse and Gourry Gabriev. The released illustration highlights a new dimension of the characters’ appeal, rendered in Rei’s distinct and beautiful style.

Regarding the collaboration, illustrator Rei commented: “I never imagined I would have the chance to contribute to a series I’ve loved since childhood, and I am truly honored to have this opportunity. While drawing, I was reminded of the timeless appeal of the characters and the art style, and I’m delighted that I was able to capture that.”

 

About the Fantasy Classic, “Slayers”

“Slayers” is a pinnacle of fantasy fiction, a novel series written by Hajime Kanzaka with illustrations by Rui Araizumi. Published under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint, the series celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2025. With over 22 million copies in circulation (including digital editions as of January 2025), it continues to be cherished by a legion of fans.
